Link to Station Plaza & Cycle Hub, Kingston, UK
Management and delivery of a portfolio of high profile landmark projects as part of the Royal Borough of Kingston mini-Holland. The project portfolio comprises the creation of a new link to the station Plaza, .including the removal of an obsolete post tensioned footbridge and hoisting a new wider 35 metre span foot and cycle bridge overnight. Operations, planning and approval was particularly sensitive - the structures are adjacent to Network Rail major infrastructure and span over the Kingston ring road. UM&S were crucial in the strategy & planning, obtaining approval and operation and successful delivery.

The Green Link, New Malden, Kingston, UK
“This isn’t just a new cycle route, it’s a fabulous new linear park for the community to enjoy!” - Will Norman London's Commissioner for Walking & Cycling
Management and delivery of a portfolio of high profile landmark projects as part of the Royal Borough of Kingston mini-Holland. The project comprised a new 1.2km walking and cycling path which provides a direct and entirely traffic-free route between New Malden Railway Station and Raynes Park Recreation Ground. The path runs along Thames Water land, parallel to the railway line, passing under the A3 Kingston by-pass and avoiding busy or lengthy alternative routes. This off-road cycle and pedestrian route joins the boroughs of Merton and Kingston, while running alongside the railway between Raynes Park and New Malden stations, improving journey times for cyclists and pedestrians - journey times by bike from one end to the other take an average of 9 mins. The project was particularly challenging as UM&S negotiated and engineered the strategy to lease this land at minimal cost from Thames Water and required coordination during construction with a major water supply pipe upgrade and Network Rail adjacent to the project.
